Looking for the perfect baby girl name for your new baby? This list of over 100 Indian baby girl names will help you pick the perfect name for your baby girl.
One of the most important decisions you will make once you find you are pregnant is that of picking the perfect baby girl name. Everyone has their own idea of the perfect name for a baby girl.
Sometimes it is as simple as whatever is currently fashionable as per the top 10 names for the country in the year that the baby is born. Sometimes it’s a family name that honours a favourite relative, and sometimes it’s just a name that the mother (or father) really likes.
The baby name chosen will occasionally carry certain cultural significance. This happens often in the case of popular baby names as they are fashionable for a certain period of time and then the trend changes and so you can put babies with those names into a certain decade.
Television, and to lesser extent movies, can influence these trends as certain television shows have characters with names which are “different” and which parents like so this is added to the list of potential baby names.
There are exceptions to this, however, as there are some baby girl names which are timeless and have been handed down generation to generation throughout the family. Whether or not to choose the baby name before the baby is born is a matter for personal preference.
There are parents who decide what their baby’s name will be from the moment they have the pregnancy confirmed – and in some cases, they know what baby names they will choose before they are even pregnant!
Then there are other parents who wait until the baby is born before naming it. Sometimes this is because they can’t agree on a name, or because they haven’t found one they like, or sometimes just because they want to wait to see how the baby girl looks before naming her.
Once the baby is born, there’s still time to pick the perfect baby name for your baby girl. Even if the name was decided months before the birth, it’s possible that having seen the baby, the name will change.
When you see your baby for the first time and hold it in your arms, you may decide that the name that was chosen doesn’t seem to fit with the baby you are looking at. Maybe your baby girl has more delicate features than the robust name chosen suggests or vice versa.
It’s also possible that there was someone instrumental in bringing the baby into the world that you want to honour by naming your baby girl after them – and this won’t be known until after the birth occurs.
Take time to choose the perfect name for your baby girl, and don’t be afraid to change your mind at the last minute if you feel it’s not quite appropriate after all the baby is going to wear that name a long time!
In this list of baby girl names, we will list baby names for girls and keep the list updated based on your suggestions.
Do you know any pure Tamil names for girls, baby girl names in Marathi or baby girl names in Telugu? Do suggest them in the comments below.

Infertility is one of the foremost topics of discussion when it comes to women’s health and well being. There are several underlying causes and factors that contribute to infertility. While hormonal conditions have been vastly studied in connection to infertility, little is known on the impact emotional well being has on fertility.
What is stress and how do I identify it?
Stress is generally identified as feeling tense or wound up on most occasions relating to the psychological impact of external or internal factors. Careers, family, finance, and medical illness are some of the key contributors to stress.

Since different individuals handle stress differently the impact stress has internally cannot be quantified. Some of the ways in which you can identify stress in your daily routines include:
These are just a few. Women can manifest a whole spectrum of symptoms or just one or two from the list. Initially, women can overlook a lot of these, but when these start to affect daily functioning it is ideal to take some time out and tackle the stress.
How does stress impact my system’s functioning?
Stress is known to release hormones such as cortisol which in moderate amounts assist with regulating sugar and increasing energy levels. However, prolonged stress impacts the system negatively increasing inflammation, wreaking havoc on the other hormones as well as lowering immunity among the other cause and effect related to stress.

Stress hormones can also have an impact on your fertility hormones and the way your reproductive system functions.
What is the possible impact stress has on my reproductive system function?
Stress hormones work to elevate your flight and fright response and therefore any other system that is not required during this response is slowed down, one of these includes the reproductive system. Some of the possible ways in which stress can impact your fertility include:
These are just a few of the possible causes. Stress can increase what is known as reactive oxidative species (ROS) in the body. This can accumulate in the area where your eggs are produced and either reduce the egg quality or halt egg production. ROS also disrupt hormone function and their impact on egg production. Therefore during each menstrual cycle of a stressed woman there is a chance that she is not producing any healthy eggs.

However, since stress can be related to both physical and psychological factors the impact of fertility cannot directly be linked to only stress in a person’s life. While stress can be a component, studies still have to prove that it is a direct consequence of underlying fertility issues.
How should I tackle the stress that I experience in my daily life?
The ways in which stress impacts your system can be reversed quite easily once the stress is actively controlled. Women have been experiencing stress for many centuries and are still able to conceive, so stress on its own is just one of the factors that are responsible for changes in one’s ability to conceive. Working on all the factors that contribute to your stress and unhealthy lifestyle is one of the first ways to approach tackling issues relating to your fertility.
Some of the ways in which you can be more proactive about the stress that you experience in your life include:

Stress is inevitable. Women can experience stress from different aspects of their life. While studies are still in its infancy when associating stress and fertility, it is known that stress contributes to inflammatory processes in the body. Stress hormones can disrupt reproductive hormone function.

However, as highlighted above, stress is reversible. The impact stress has is short term and often easy to tackle once identified. Observing yourself on edge often, unable to handle tasks you originally would are just some of the signs that you might be having some underlying stress. Actively work on it. Do not hesitate to seek professional help when required.

With the discussions relating to women’s health gaining pace, today terms like PCOS, hypothyroidism, and endometriosis are among mainstream conversations. Every woman today is probably more aware of various conditions that can possibly affect them and their fertility.
One of the several causes of infertility is endometriosis. This medical condition is a tricky one to figure out and also treat. It may take several years before endometriosis is diagnosed. And then some time for maintaining optimal fertility.
The endometrium is the innermost layer of the uterus. In women with endometriosis, this uterine layer is often found outside the confines of the uterus. The ovaries, fallopian tubes, intestines, and other possible pelvic organs can have the presence of this uterine tissue. So, since this is uterine tissue, it bleeds and goes through changes, similar to the tissue within the uterus. And this results in painful cysts and adhesions within the abdominal and pelvic cavities.

The symptoms can differ from woman to woman. Some women can go years without any obvious symptoms. Some of the clinical features include:
While endometriosis is a possible cause for infertility, most women with endometriosis are able to conceive without any requirement for fertility treatments.
There are several ways in which endometriosis can hamper your ability to conceive. Some possible ways include:

While these are the most common underlying reasons, there could be any series of events that could hinder the process of fertilization in women with endometriosis.
Many women often get pregnant without even knowing that they could possibly have endometriosis. However, when you do have difficulty in getting pregnant (over a year after trying to conceive) checking in with a fertility expert is crucial.
Endometriosis is diagnosed through a laparoscopy. This procedure is also useful in treating the condition as well. Some of the extrauterine tissues can be removed when identified through laparoscopy. Additionally, your physician can decide the severity of your condition to suggest other fertility treatments.
Approach to infertility related to endometriosis includes:

Endometriosis symptoms may improve following pregnancy, this is because a woman is not menstruating when she is pregnant.
However, this might not be the case for all women. Some women might observe an increase in the growth of the endometrial tissue. Additionally, endometriosis does add some risks to your pregnancy:

These are just a few of the complications that are documented with endometriosis. There is large spectrum of obstetrical complications that can be associated with endometriosis. You will ideally have to follow up with your gynecologist regularly during pregnancy if you have endometriosis.
Bleeding, contraction, excruciating backache, or anything new and concerning requires immediate medical attention.
The underlying cause or reason for endometriosis is often obscure. Therefore while the extrauterine tissue may not go away, symptoms related to endometriosis can subside on its own.
Certain women might experience relief with small lifestyle changes or medical management. Some may experience relief following a laparoscopic intervention. But for most women, they observe waxing and waning symptoms throughout their lifetime.
Temporary relief might be observed during pregnancy. However, most symptoms subside during menopause. This is due to the decrease in the primary reproductive hormones following menopause. This results in the reduction of cyclical pain observed during menses as well as a reduction in the size of the endometrial tissue is observed.

It is often disheartening to get a medical diagnosis such as endometriosis. More so if it has an impact on your fertility. However, today with the advances in medical science and a variety of options, women are able to manage their symptoms and increase their chances of fertility. Often seeking help in the initial phases when you feel that something might be amiss is crucial.

Potty-training is among the major achievements of early childhood. However, for your child to master it, he/she has to be emotionally and biologically ready. Different children are ready at different ages; but this has nothing to do with their personality, intelligence or motivation.
Potty-training involves bringing together a set of individual skills in a certain way, such as the ability to interpret the body signals, undressing, ability to control the bladder, bowels and washing the hands. Your child will need to possess some of these skills before beginning to potty-train him, or you’ll not succeed.
You can possibly miss some stages of your daughter’s growth but changing her diapers is not among them. You will need time and patience and a high level of motivation and cooperation to teach your daughter to use a potty.
Experts say that girls learn how to use potty earlier than boys because they are not easily distracted. Also, children with older siblings to imitate are easier to potty train.

It is advisable to start potty training your child when she has the ability to do so. While some children begin as young as 1 ½ year, others will be prepared when they are 3 or even 4.
There is no need to potty train your daughter when she is not emotionally or physically ready because the process will take much longer.
Wondering how to potty train your child, the following tips will help:
Kids learn by imitation, and when she watches you use the bathroom is a step closer.
Allowing your daughter to see you sit down while weeing and her father stand will help her know how girls and boys pee differently.
To get your daughter used to the idea of using the potty, begin by making her sit on the potty without her nappy on. You can show her how to sit on it using a doll.
Don’t worry if she resists and don’t pressure her because you’ll ruin the whole process.
Just like adults, your daughter will require motivation when learning a new thing. You can spark her interest in potty training by going with her to shop knickers of her choice. Talk with her in advance and she will be excited to use potty and wear potty just like adults.

The following signs will show you that your toddler is ready for potty training.
Most parents potty train their children when they are under three years. Some parents will even start training their children to use potty when they are only one year. Others, however, are ready to go through ten sets of diapers in a day before potty training their kids.

But what is the ideal age to start potty training your child? You ask.
In reality, there is no magic age to start potty training your child. Children learn the art of potty training with time. There isn’t a formula that your child should go through in order to be potty trained.
Just like children learned how to crawl and walk without being coached and most parents were excited and relaxed when their children were going through this process. Parents should also know that children will be using the potty when they are physically and emotionally ready.
A child will be ready to be potty trained when he is able to hold his bladder for one or two hours. However, most children reach between 2 and 4 years before they are ready to be potty trained.
This plan can work well for children who are younger than 3, are ready to potty train and parents are ready to commit. You can do this as follows:

When you’re out, bring with you a portable potty in the case he needs to pee. Toilet training is a very important milestone in the life of both parents and toddlers. The child starts to understand the body’s signals and acts accordingly. Every child is unique and will behave and respond differently to potty training measures. Do not get frustrated or panicky. The child has an innate wish to please the adult, so encourage and motivate her/him to use the potty. If you are still facing a problem you feel is not resolving, it is best to see a health care practitioner.

In the modern world, more and more parents want their children to be speakers of the English language at a younger age. Most of them are concerned about how to teach a child to speak in English and many lack this skill themselves.

‘’I want my 3-year old to learn speaking English but I am not sure how to teach a child to speak English’’. This is a common concern among most of my friends. You should take advantage of their early age and immerse your child in the English language as early as possible. The best way to do this is ensuring that you incorporate English in your daily routines at home to enhance their speaking ability and vocabulary.
Still wondering how to teach a child to speak English? Don’t worry, the following tips will be helpful:
Establishing an English routine at home can significantly help your child learn to speak in English. I would recommend having short and frequent sessions instead of long, infrequent sessions. For very young children you can have 15-minute sessions. You can gradually increase the length of sessions as the child grows and also increase the concentration of English learned. For you to have your child’s attention, you should ensure the activities are short and clear.
Children are more comfortable when they are aware of what to expect. Therefore, you should have the same routine every day. For instance, you could watch an English cartoon after school or even play an English game.
Small children are attracted to books with attractive illustrations and bright colours. Look at the pictures in the book with your child and while pointing the pictures you say their names. Afterwards ask your child to point at various things, e.g. ‘where is the dog?’’ After this, encourage your child to ask a question. Listening to stories will significantly help your child get used to rhythms and sounds of English.
Listening to animated stories is an excellent way to improve your child’s listening and reading skills. If your child is older, he/she can fill the accompanying downloadable activities to gauge their understanding.
Parents who are not always present at home can save their children a great deal if they hire an English speaking house help. You can be at ease knowing that your children are learning English even in your absence.

Unlike when speaking to you, your caretaker may only be able to speak in English. This will make your children do their best to learn speaking English because they would love to speak with the caretaker.
All children no matter their age love music. Singing and dancing to English songs with your child will significantly help them in learning English.
Singing English songs will help your child learn English sounds and vocabulary. Usually, songs involve a lot of rhythms and repetitions thus making it easy for your child to remember.
Also playing songs with lyrics is an excellent way of helping your children’s punctuation patterns naturally.
It is easy for children to learn naturally without intervention from adults. Children can learn English while playing and making mistakes along the way. Therefore, encouraging your children to play in English will significantly help improve their English.
Encourage them to play hide-and-seek and other games in English. You should encourage your children to learn English the same way you would teach their first language.
The best way to immerse your child in the English language is through listening to English audios. This includes listening to audiobooks, or broadcasts. You can use the time when commuting your child to school to listen to audiobooks.

To help improve your child’s English level, use audiobooks that are slightly above his/her level.
When teaching your child new words, try not to overwhelm him with many new words. Introducing 3 new words at a time would be ideal so that the child will not have tough time remembering.
Now that you’ve learned how to teach a child to speak English, it’s time to help your child improve his mastery of English speaking. You can do this by helping your child develop a reading habit. Buying English books that are interesting to your child will be helpful.

Starting school is an important milestone for you and your child. For most children this marks their first step away from home or a transition to new settings and friends whereas to most parents it’s their first time to let their children out their care.
You’ll agree that even returning to familiar environments has its share of pleasures, excitements, and anxieties. When your child is at the younger stages of development, change can have far-reaching effects on their thoughts and feelings. Some kids enjoy and accept change more than others. But even the most experienced child will require some extra care during his/her first days in school.

I talked to a teacher on how to prepare your child for the first day in school. Here is what she said:
It is essential for your child to have basic communication skills when starting school. Typically, before taking your child to school, you should teach them to sit and listen for a given period of time. Your child should be able to listen and understand simple instructions and also be able to put two or three sentences together in the case they need to ask something.
Before taking your child to school for the first time, it is imperative to visit the school with your child so that you can tour the classroom that your child will be spending most of his time in. Some school administrations conduct a special event for this purpose, but you can still call the school to plan a date to drop by.
This will help reduce the anxiety and make you and your child more familiar with the school environment.
Usually, children go to sleep later in the night while sleeping longer in the morning. Starting school can make your child tired due to lack of enough sleep which can impact your child’s feelings, learning, and growth.

You can help your child adjust by moving bedtime early and stick to the routine. Avoid scheduling many activities during the few days to school to prevent your child from being overwhelmed.
Before taking your child to school, talk to him about what to expect in school and in the classroom. Guide them concerning the school and class routine, friends, activities and the teacher. Practice going to the classroom and greeting teachers and friends. This will help him adapt easily to the school environment.
Teaching your child how to get undressed and dressed prior to starting school is an important lesson. This will ensure that your child will not have tough times when they are engaging in physical education (PE), as they’ll have to change clothes during this activity.

Kids going to school for the first time are worried about the kind of people they will meet in school. They are concerned whether they are going to make friends. You can help your child make friends by uncovering if there are classmates in your neighbourhood. If there are familiar friends in the neighbourhood that they will be schooling together it will be good. If that’s not the case, it is important that you educate your child on what to expect – the fun of meeting new friends and engaging in new activities.
Schools have varied kindergarten schedules across the country. Some children will attend half days, some full days and others will alternate between full and half days. Depending on your school, you can choose a schedule that will suit your child.
It is good to make your child’s first day in school special and memorable. Some parents will sweeten the deal by taking their children on a shopping trip where others let their children have a meal to celebrate their first day in school.

Finally, when the school day arrives, set out your child’s clothes the night before, make sure that your child is in bed at the right hour, decide on the breakfast menu and set your alarm. This will ensure you have enough time to prepare in the morning and uninterrupted breakfast.
