The South Korean mammoths in a statement said that it will pour $22.0 billion over three years into four different areas. In addition to 5G and AI, the company will also focus its endeavors on biopharmaceuticals and automotive electronics parts.
Samsung said it would enlist 1,000 AI researchers around the globe and look to wind up a noteworthy player in cutting-edge 5G networks. It said the two technologies are essential for the improvement of autonomous vehicles.
Samsung is the biggest conglomerate in South Korea and the biggest smartphone maker in the world. But its revenue has majorly suffered due to the below-par sales and the slowing demand for memory chips.
Chinese companies Xiaomi and Huawei are the major rivals of Samsung and are giving the South Korean giant increasing competition.
In recent years, a series of scandals have hit the organization. Lee Jae-Yong, the de facto leader of Samsung, was found guilty of corruption a few months back but was released from prison in February.
The investments announced are the piece of a larger plan to spend $160.0 billion in the next three years on research & development and capital expenditures.
The company’s manufacturing hub, as well as the display and memory businesses, are the areas that will be aimed for investment.
In the next three years, Samsung plans to create 40000 new jobs.

Croatia’s Mateo Kovacic has been signed by Chelsea on a season-long loan from the Spanish giants Real Madrid, with Chelsea’s No.1 Thibaut Courtois to have his permanent move to Real Madrid to be confirmed later today.
The Croatian midfielder, Kovacic, has been in Madrid for the last three seasons since joining the Italian club Inter Milan. Despite the move, he had very little game time at Madrid, whose midfield was dominated by Kovacic’s fellow countrymen Luka Modric and the German workhorse, Toni Kroos.
Kovacic was a part of the Croatian squad that reached the finals of the FIFA World Cup held in Russia, this summer. Though he didn’t get too many starts in Russia as well, he did make important contributions as a substitute.
Kovacic joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 and have gone on to win three consecutive UEFA Champions League title.
Kovacic was just 17 years old when he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League against the French club, Lyon. The goal made him the second-youngest player to have ever found the back of the net in the Champions League.
“He is a perfect fit for us this season, his style is well suited to how Maurizio wants to play, and we are sure he will prove to be a valuable asset for the club.”, said Marina Granovska, the director of Chelsea football club on Kovacic’s addition to the squad.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to start the protest during the 2016 NFL season.
The player’s demonstrations of not standing and taking a knee or raising a fist or locking arms led to criticism from Donald Trump, the President of the United States.
“I just think it’s important to keep this conversation going, that we don’t let it get stagnant,” said Jenkins after the Eagles’ 31-14 loss to Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Everybody’s kind of waiting to see what the league is going to do. It’s just my personal decision to keep these things at the forefront.”
The National Football League’s anthem policy has been put on hold for the time being as it plans to hold a discussion with the NFL Players Association.
It had before ruled that the players who do not want to stand during the Star-Spangled Banner should not come out on the pitch during the anthem and should staying the locker room.
The governing body said: “The NFL has been engaged in constructive discussions with the NFL Players Association regarding the anthem and issues of equality and social justice that are of concern to many Americans.
“While those discussions continue, the NFL has agreed to delay implementing or enforcing any club work rules that could result in players being disciplined for their conduct during the performance of the anthem.”

In a bid to take on US rival Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, the German automaker has finally unveiled its first fully electric car, the EQC 400 4MATIC.
Daimler’s subsidiary says the EQC will have a range of traveling more than 450kms.
The EQC will start rolling off production lines in Bremen 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz plant.
Mercedes is investing more than €9.0 billion to expand its electric range and more than €1 billion to produce the batteries.
By 2022, Mercedes plans to launch the EQC 400 4MATIC. The new electric SUV is the very first model in a range of ten EQ cars.
With the United Kingdom and France planning to ban combustion engines, and with European cities establishing low emission zones in the cities across Europe, most carmakers have been trying to enter the e-vehicle industry.
Up to this point, California-based electric car maker Tesla, which is finding it hard to meet the production targets and burning through cash, had very little or no competition.
Right now, Audi and Porsche, German automakers are on track to manufacture the luxury e-vehicles. In Britain, Jaguar is on its way to producing luxury electric vehicles as well.
Earlier this year, after Daimler was found to be fitting its cars with illegal software that covers diesel emissions was ordered by the German government recalled 238,000 vehicles in Germany.
774,000 diesel vehicles of Daimler across all of Europe contain “defeat devices”. The company said that it would recall all of them and said it would refit the software but denied any wrongdoing.
