If you are thinking of going to Vietnam and you don’t know where you can start, here are some ideas to make the most of your stay!

Budget for a trip to Vietnam

HOUSING

Just like Thailand and the rest of SouthEast Asia, Vietnam is a country where the cost of living is very inexpensive. However, even if the country remains less developed than Thailand, the prices are nevertheless not lower. The trophy goes to Saigon where the night will be among the most expensive in the whole country. Count 20 USD for a classic hotel instead of the 15 USD charged in Hanoi for example.

It will also be very easy for you to find dormitories for less than 5 euros. And then, by looking well, especially in the adjacent streets, you will be able to very clearly drop the prices.

For my part, I advise you to go to the Koto Hotel in Hanoi and the Anh Duy Hotel in Saigon.

FOOD

It becomes very difficult to find good, authentic, inexpensive food in tourist areas. To find small local taverns, go to more local neighborhoods. No need to look far, sometimes you just have to cross the street.

Allow around 2 euros maximum (60,000 VND) for a dish. For small appetites, I recommend the famous Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) for less than 0.50 cents (15,000 VND).

If you decide to eat in a classic restaurant, you will need to count more than 100,000 VND or 3 to 5 euros.

Likewise, to have a drink and share a good beer, nothing better than to sit down in the “bars” on the street. Recognizable by their red and blue plastic stools. So take a walk in the evening on Bui Vien Street in Saigon to see it for yourself.

TRANSPORTATION

Transport to move around the country is also very inexpensive, you can choose between the bus and the train. Be careful though with long journeys on the “Sleeping Bus” which will certainly get the better of you. Berths that are too small (if you are over 1m80), roads not always in good condition, and sometimes a driver are as pleasant as Tati Danielle.

For a Hanoi-Saigon trip, count at least 45 euros (1,200,000 VND) by train and just as much by bus. Namely, you don’t have to do everything in one go. Possibility to stop at each city to visit with “Open” tickets.

ACTIVITIES

You will get it at all costs. For example, a weekend of 2 days and a night on Halong Bay will cost you around 100 USD for 2 people. You can also take a day trip to the Mekong Delta for around 15 euros.

To find out about prices, you can do it very easily at the reception of your hotel or go through this agency that I recommend (RUES D ASIE).

Tips for saving money

MOVE AWAY FROM TOURIST AREAS

It’s crazy like a block away, the prices can go down. In addition to paying less, you will eat better and more varied. The opportunity to immerse yourself in a 100% local atmosphere, in addition, the Viets are immediately friendlier. The other advantage in all of this is that you won’t be further from tourist attractions like temples and other markets.

NEGOTIATE, NEGOTIATE, AND NEGOTIATE AGAIN

Note that previously, there was a law that fixed a price for foreigners and prices for Vietnamese. Even if it was abolished, since then it remains very present in the minds of the Vietnamese (go find out why). Assume that everything you are offered will have been generously inflated. As proof, it is sometimes enough to show that you are not interested to see the price cut by two.

KEEP AN EYE ON THE METER

It’s crazy how the taxi meter gets carried away. I advise you to always keep an eye on the meter so as not to have a bad surprise on arrival. What I advise you is to take the big companies where everything is fair most of the time (Vina Sun, Mai Linh)

If you have to do short distances, the best is still to use the Xe Om ( motorcycle taxi). You will get by for less than 1 euro and the race will be negotiated in advance. No bad surprises.

Things to see and do

EXPLORE HANOI AND SAIGON

The 2 biggest cities in Vietnam and yet so different. Ha Noi, much more traditional, and Saigon, the city that moves. I find the first to be more charming, but there is definitely more to do in the second. After that, it remains only a personal choice.

If you are passing through Saigon, I highly recommend you to try the durian ice cream at Bach Dang. The 100% Viet glacier is not to be missed if you are passing through the city. Visit level, go for a walk to the museum of traditional medicine (FITO). The atmosphere that emanates from the place is well worth the cost.

If you are passing through Hanoi, you cannot miss the Tran Quoc Pagoda located by the West Lake. Also, take a short trip to the water puppet show. The theater is located north of Hoan Kiem Lake.

There would be so much to say about its 2 cities. I leave it to you to better find out for yourself.

HALONG BAY

We no longer need to introduce it, Halong Bay is THE Vietnamese tourist site par excellence. It must be said that she has something to dream of. The only catch is that you probably won’t be the only one with the same idea. Yes, during your excursion you will be constantly surrounded by other boats. It is best to take a 2-night stay, which will allow you to go a little further in the bay and be a little more peaceful.

TRACK IN THE NORTH

Also in northern Vietnam, Hanoi is the gateway to various treks and hikes. The opportunity to meet some of the ethnic minorities of Vietnam. I also advise you to go for a little walk to the Ba Be National Park where there is a beautiful lake. Change of scenery guaranteed.

HUE AND ITS TOMBS

Come and discover the imperial city located in the middle of Vietnam. You can discover its citadel, its perfume river, its pagoda (Thien Mu), as well as its tombs. Day trips are organized, you can also rent a motorbike and go on an adventure.

If you take a tour, I don’t recommend doing it all in one day. In addition to flying over the sites, it is physically and psychologically exhausting.

HOIAN AND THE CHAM ISLANDS

Located right next to Hue, Hoi An is a small town full of charm. You will discover its Japanese bridge, its local market, its old houses, its beach and many other things. It is also the city of lanterns. The opportunity to discover the place in a completely different atmosphere after dark. The alleys are lit by candlelight (14th day of each lunar month) and the port illuminated with a farandole of multicolored lanterns.

If you are passing through Hoi An, take the opportunity to spend a night on the Cham Islands. Departure every morning (early) by speed boat. You can savor the deserted beaches and a life without electricity.

ENJOY THE BEACHES OF NHA TRANG

Do you want sun and relaxation? Nha Trang is Vietnam’s seaside resort par excellence. Even if many find that it has lost its soul (large villas on the beach), it is a city that it would be a shame to miss.

I advise you to rent a motorbike and explore its surroundings. The opportunity to stumble upon breathtaking landscapes.

Do not forget to go for a walk around its hot springs (Thap Ba Hot Springs) where you will have the opportunity to take a mud bath.

FAURE OF SKY SURFING IN MUI NE

If there is one spot to indulge in Sky Surfing, it is in Mui Ne. With the sea level with the hotels, a more than favorable wind, and sailing schools every 500 meters, you will have no more excuses. Possibility to rent the boards or take lessons (around 100 euros for 3 hours).

Take the opportunity to take a ride on the sand dunes where you can go sledding and quad biking. Even better if you love photos. In short, a good time to spend a few hours by bus from Saigon.

TAKE A MOTORCYCLE TOUR IN DALAT

The most mountainous of the southern towns. Dalat is well known for its flowers and its hinterland. So take the services of Easy Rider and go on a motorcycle for a day trip (15 to 30 euros). You will appreciate the landscapes and the pleasure of a motorcycle ride. As a bonus, we will take you to taste Vietnamese coffee. The opportunity to test and discover what Weasel Coffee is made with… you will definitely take a cup…

DISCOVER PHU QUOC

The largest island in Vietnam opens its doors to you. With its fine sandy beaches, some of which are practically virgin, you will really feel like you are on a desert island.

If you prefer freshwater, know that you can go for a dip in the waterfalls.

The opportunity also to stock up on pepper, fish sauce, and Sim’s wine.

LEARN TO COOK

It must be said, cooking classes are more about having a good time and eating well. Master Chef is still far ahead of you. However, this will allow you to have a good approach to Viet cuisine and above all, to discover how your old-fashioned dish was made. I, therefore, advise you to choose the dishes you want to make, because some will be easier to reproduce once at home (count 25 euros per day).

HAVE A COFFEE LIKE THE VIETS

The favorite pastime of the Vietnamese, to sit on the terrace of a café (2 stools and 1 table on a sidewalk), and take their time. I really advise you to do the same (if your buttocks endure the stool test for more than 10 minutes), and simply ask yourself.

Order a café den (very strong black coffee) or my favorite, Café Sua Da (iced coffee with condensed milk). The best is still to find a nice corner away from traffic like Vuon King at 10B TON DUC THANG, along the Saigon River

TAKE AN EXCURSION ON THE MEKONG DELTA

One of the must-do excursions if you come to the surroundings of Saigon. I really do not recommend day trips. Hyper touristic and hyper framed. Unless you really only have the day, this will give you a good overview of what to see on the Mekong.

For others, take an excursion of a few days and take the opportunity to visit cities like Cai Rang and its floating market, but not only…

PARTICIPATE IN THE TET FESTIVAL

Chinese New Year is celebrated in mid-February. You will be able to enjoy a sumptuous mix of firecrackers, colors, decorations, dances, and much more. On the other hand, this is also the time when prices are more expensive, shops closed and transport crowded.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF BY EATING SPECIALTIES

Vietnamese gastronomy will not leave you indifferent. But, there are dishes that many travelers overlook. So to put yourself to the test, try to swallow an incubated egg, a dog sausage, a barbecued mouse, or a durian ice cream. What, that doesn’t mean anything to you, and yet there are much worse…

ATTEND A CA TRU CONCERT

A singer with a captivating voice accompanied by a traditional musical instrument. It will take no more to transport you to an authentic Vietnam filled with tradition. I don’t know if you’ve heard a preview before, but it’s just beautiful. I know that in Hanoi, there is the possibility of attending performances at Thang Long Ca Tru Theater

TOUR THE PAGODAS

Vietnam is rich in heritage and especially in the pagoda. From Hanoi to Saigon, you will have the opportunity to see all kinds and colors. I still have a preference for the one-pillar pagoda, and of course, that of Tran Quoc. Although the Thien Mu Pagoda offers a superb view of the Perfume River…

The best neighborhoods and bars in Saigon

SAIGON BAR “BOBBY BREWERS”

Located on Bui Vien Street, this place was like a second home for me. The food was a bit expensive, so I never ate there, however, I sometimes had a few drinks with other travelers and especially to enjoy their free cinema room upstairs! This place was perfect for my quiet days but also for the last night when I had to wait several hours for the next bus to Laos, I spent several hours watching old Asian movies with subtitles! There is also free Wi-Fi.

SAIGON BAR “GO2”

It is one of the biggest bars but also the most popular among globetrotters, it is opposite the famous “Crazy Buffalo” bar. This bar knew how to charm me with its “Buy two-get-one-free” (Two for the price of one) Tiger Draft. It’s loud, crowded, and kids will often come and ask you if you want to buy cigarettes, a lighter, or some chewing gum, but it’s still a great place to hang out or meet people.

There are of course loads of other bars in this area, smaller and more numerous with happy hour and cocktail specials. Just walk down the side aisles and you’ll come across it.

Saigon seems to live as soon as the sun sets when night replaces day. Sitting on the sidewalk with a beer in hand (wherever you are in the city) is the best way to relax and take in the life around you.

The London Resort, an ambitious project dubbed “the entertainment destination of the future,” is projected to generate about £50 billion for the UK before 2050.

This much-awaited project has recently progressed to the examination stage after it passed the first test from the Planning Inspectorate. If successful, this massive UK theme park could start construction by 2022 and open its first gate by 2024.

The London Resort aims to transform an industrial site spread over 872 acres in the Swanscom be Peninsula and turn it into a spectacular theme park and resort to include several luxurious London resort hotels, a theme park, a massive indoor water park, a Conference centre, and an eSports arena.

The London Resort’s Economic Impact

The London Resort will join the club of the largest unitary-site employers in the UK. This alone makes this huge undertaking as a great addition to the economy of Kent County.

Based on an independent research study, the projected total economic activity of The London Resort could be as high as £50 billion in the first 25 years of its operations. Additionally, 6,000 workers are expected to be hired for the construction activities, and if estimates are to be believed, 48,000 people could benefit in the next two decades. The government is also set to make over £200 million in tax revenues.

The latest released concept arts show around fifty theme park rides, eight roller coasters, and several medieval-era castles. London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH)has links and partnerships with goliaths like Paramount Pictures, ITV and BBC, so many sections of this London theme park will be based on their movies and TV shows.

The London ResortPasses First Test

In January 2021, the LRCH’s planning application passed the first test and moved into the examination phase. The 25,000-page dossier contains extensive reports and proposals now open to comment by interested parties and stakeholders.

What could tilt the odds in The London Resort’s favour is the fact that the adjoining areas have been earmarked for the development of parks and wildlife-only zones. These are the means for making it the first-ever carbon neutral amusement park in the country.

Speaking about the latest development, LRCH’s CEO PY Gerbeau said:

“We have always said our ambition is to build much more than just a theme park.  It will be a beacon of world-class entertainment and experiences within a world-leading sustainable environment.  We still have a long way to go and we are very much looking forward to working with the Planning Inspectorate over the coming months.”

Next Steps for The London Resort

Talks between LRCH and the UK government are in full swing and a decision is expected to be made on the future of the park in the next several months. There’s a lot at stake since for the first time since 1992 an amusement park is being constructed from scratch. Without a doubt, millions of people are eagerly anticipating that the first brick would be laid in 2022.

After effective re-presentation of one-horned rhinos 35 years prior, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve authority will demand Assam to “help” with Asiatic bison.

Two guys and three female rhinos were caught in Assam in 1984, and were trans-situated to Dudhwa in 1984. From that point onward, rhino populace in Dudhwa has developed, and has now arrived at 34.

Supported with the example of overcoming adversity of rhino movement, the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve authorities are currently quick to repopulate the ensured wilderness with Asiatic bison, otherwise called wild water wild oxen.

Dudhwa woods used to have a populace of wild water bison previously. In any case, the populace got wiped out with time as a result of reasons still not known.

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve is a secured region in Uttar Pradesh extending over the Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich locale. It includes the Dudhwa National Park, Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.

It covers a region of 1,284.3 sq. km and incorporates three huge backwoods parts in the midst of the network overwhelmed by agribusiness. It imparts the north-eastern limit to Nepal, which is characterized to a huge degree by the Mohana River.

The territory is a huge alluvial floodplain crossed by various waterways and streams streaming south-easterly way.

The wild water bison are probably going to be presented in the alluvial floodplain zone of the wild environment.

In 1987, the

and the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary were brought under the domain of the ‘Task Tiger’ as Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. The Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary was included the year 2000.

The activity to repopulate Dudhwa with Asiatic wild oxen was taken by then field chief Ramesh Pandey in 2018.

Authorities of Uttar Pradesh timberland office have again begun to show interest in the task after the Assam government consented to trans-find five female Asiatic wild oxen to Jharkhand.

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve authorities said they would before long be mentioning Assam to help with some wild water bison to repopulate the wildernesses.

While the worldwide populace of wild water bison is assessed to be 3,400, more than 3,100 (91 percent) live in India, generally in Assam.
