Longing to Be Vertical: Living with Chronic Illness
This is the story of a woman who has lived with multiple chronic illnesses for the majority of her life, starting when she was a young adult. It describes her journey, her difficulties, struggles, hurdles, loss of independence, and also her courage, strength, fortitude, and hope. She has POTS (a form of dysautonomia), Lupus and Sjogren's Syndrome (autoimmune diseases), Fibromyalgia, and small fiber neuropathy. The title comes from the fact that she is primarily bed bound and is writing from the viewpoint of someone who has to spend the majority of her time horizontal.
