Sago is one of the carb loaded grains as it contains rich energy beneficial for all. It is the top most grain majorly used during fast, as it enriches the body with potential carbohydrates reducing stomach ulcers. This Sabudana dish is quite simple and easy to make as a side dish for roti, chapati, variety rice or a breakfast dish to relish on. It not only is simple and easy but too tasty to savour.

Ingredients:

  • Sago/Sabudana – 2 cups
  • Besan/Gram Flour – 1 cup
  • Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dal – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Few curry leaves
  • Potato – 1 big or 2 small 
  • Green peas – 1/4 cup
  • Sweet Corn – 1/4 cup
  • Optional – 1 Onion & 4 to 5 cloves of Garlic chopped

Mix to Sago: ( Add according to the taste of your choice)

  • Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
  •  Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – 1 teaspoon 
  • Pinch of Hing/Asafoetida 
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Garnish:

  • Few coriander leaves
  • Few Fried Peanuts

How to Make:

  • Soak 2 cups of Sago/Sabudana (for 2 to 3 people) for 4 – 5 hours (better for an overnight too) in water after rinsing off the excess starch from it.
  • Take a pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil along with a teaspoon of Cumin (jeera), Split black gram (Urad dal), Curry leaves.
  • Add Vegetables like potato, green peas, sweet corn (loved by kids) to the pan and fry them well.
  • Sprinkle some water on the vegetables in the pan and cover with a lid for a few minutes, until the vegetables turn soft enough.
  • During the days of fast, people use these vegetables other than onion and garlic, but as a snack on any other day adding them together would give a wonderful flavour.
  • Take the Sago in a separate plate and add a pinch of turmeric and salt, hing/asafoetida, red chilli powder and mix them well according to the taste preferred by kids too.
  • Add the sago to the pan with vegetables and stir them well till the sago turns soft and fluffy.
  • Take a bowl with a cup of gram flour, mix the flour adding little amount of water to make not so thick paste out of it.
  • Add the watery paste of besan to the sabudana dish and mix well.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and fried peanuts to render the mesmerising taste and flavour.

A tasteful gram flour sago dish on your plate ready to cherish on.

“Am I listening to the words they feel to say or feel to have listened much?”
“Am I embracing frustration to show my anger out or express silence as such?”
“Am I blaming myself for uncertainty or ignore their pester for no reason?”
“Am I regretting to distance myself from them or endure to get closer?”


I did conclude, that life of mine
awaits the best decision I take
to step into the ocean of guilt or virtue, for, whatever it is, I ensure
my family always stands by me.
