The trick to staying healthy when traveling, a portable blender for making your smoothies The post Best Portable Blender for Travel appeared first on TravelBusy.
When you’re traveling, it can be a little difficult to find the things you use every day in a hotel or restaurant. Things like hair dryers and soap can be found pretty easily, but what happens when you try to make a healthy smoothie for breakfast and can’t find a blender?
Blenders can be used for many things, so it’s a wonder a travel blender isn’t as common as you’d expect. While there are many brands and types available online or in stores, it can be difficult to choose the best option when you don’t have much experience with them.
Tenswall’s portable blender is easy to charge and operate. It comes with a USB cord for easy charging and can be charged in the car, with a power bank, or by a power outlet. It features a non-slip silicone pad on the bottom to prevent the blender from sliding around on a counter surface and it is super easy to clean.
This travel blender includes both a bottle and a lid for easy, on the go meals. It’s a bit smaller, only 13 oz, but still a good size for traveling meals. The bottle is also BPA free and is safe for all ages to drink from.
Unlike large blenders and other portable blenders, this blender cannot blend frozen fruit and ice cubes as easily. It can power through crushed ice, but it is not recommended you use a lot of frozen items.
This blender is great for those who are always on the go. It’s rechargeable with a USB for convenience and can be used up to 24 times per charge. It does take 3 hours to fully charge and it’s not recommended you use it during charging, but it packs a powerful punch and can blend any frozen fruit or ice cube smoothly.
The LOZAYI blender comes with a bottle and lid for easy transport. Once you’ve blended your smoothie, flip the blender upside down, unscrew it, and pop on the lid. The bottle can hold up to 15 oz, but as with all travel blenders, it’s advised you don’t fill it more than ⅔ of the way full. The BPA free bottle ensures you aren’t exposed to harmful chemicals and makes your food safe even for making baby food.
This travel blender is available in a number of fun colors such as purple, green, pink, and blue. It is also cordless and charges with a USB cord into any power source, but it has quite the punch. This blender can break through ice cubes and frozen fruit if you give it a minute and can make smooth drinks.
OBERLY’s travel blender includes not only a bottle, filter, and lid, but also an ice tray. Unfortunately, this bottle can’t be detached for easy carrying, but it is easy to clean and carry around in any bag. This blender can be used 10-15 times per charge and only takes two hours to fully charge, unlike the other two options shown. It holds 13 oz of drink and is done in 90 seconds.
When buying a travel blender, there are a few things you should consider. Most travel blenders will be about the same size and shape with many of the same features. Before shopping around, determine what features are the most important for you and what you’re willing to live without.
This would be the most obvious factor to consider. If you’re planning on taking your blender with you when traveling, finding a compact blender that won’t weigh a ton is vital, especially if you have spent a lot on decent lightweight suitcase. No one wants to carry around a clunky machine when sleeker, more lightweight options are available for the same price.
Some travel blenders are battery powered and don’t use cords. This can be handy if you don’t want to fill precious luggage space with an awkward cord. The downside to battery powered blenders is that you’ll have to purchase new batteries when they die unless you’re using rechargeable ones.
If you don’t mind a blender with a cord, then you’ll find more available options. You may have to work a little harder to fit the cord into your already full suitcase, but knowing your blender won’t possibly die while abroad can save you a lot of worry.
Because travel blenders are smaller, they’ll have less power behind the blades. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, as these small blenders are designed to work harder and can blend your smoothie for longer. It may take a minute or so extra, but if you look for a blender with 250 watts or so, it should be powerful enough to blend smoothly.
Many travel blenders come with a few extra trinkets. Some may include extra bottles or special blades. When shopping around, consider finding a blender with extra items included. You could get a good deal on blender bottles by choosing to spend a few extra dollars on a travel blender with some extra little goodies.
Travel blenders can make meals and snacks a whole lot easier. You don’t need to take a long trip overseas to get one and these nifty little blenders can work to make daily life smoother. There are many options available that have various strengths and weaknesses, so if you didn’t feel an instant connection with any of the three above, just do a little more research. Your perfect portable blender is out there.
Find the best dive watches on a budget to keep you safe The post Find the Best Dive Knife 2020 – We review the Top 3 appeared first on TravelBusy.
A dive knife is not a key component in most people’s minds when putting together diving gear. But it should be. Apart from being handy in spearfishing, it can also save your life.
Scuba divers who explore murky waters and wrecks know what I am talking about.
A dive knife is a tool that will serve you well if you ever got entangled in a fishing net or seaweed. It happens, a lot!
But how do you pick the right one?
With the plethora of dive knives on the market, we have picked three of the best available for you. Make an informed decision on where to put your money.
Compare the Features
It’s better to carry a dive knife and not need it than to need it and not have it. Promate Scuba Diving Knife is an exceptional cheap option for most divers. It can save you from a dangerous situation or help alert your diving friend of impending danger.
This is a 304 stainless steel dive knife. It is cheap to make and easy to sharpen. It can keep a sharp edge for a long time. But the trade-off is that stainless steel needs more care and maintenance than titanium. You should rinse it and dry it thoroughly after your expeditions.
You are also required to lubricate the blade lest it will start to rust with time. Considering that you won’t be investing too much to own it, the maintenance is a small trade-off.
You get a serrated and a straight edge on the Promate Scuba. The serrated edge is handy in cutting ropes underwater. On the other hand, the sharp edge is nice for spearfishing. It also includes a notch that acts as the line cutter.
Since one of the primary reasons for owning a dive knife is being able to cut lines; we can say Promate Scuba will get you out of tangled lines.
The blade is fixed on Promate Scuba. We like that it is reliable in the way it feels in the hand.
Handle and Carriage
This knife has a plastic handle. It is textured and super reliable around water. Most people give it credit for not getting slippery. The handle fits well in most average-size hands. It handles firmly in thanks to the finger grooves.
What’s more, this knife includes a stainless-steel hammer butt. You can use it as a tank banger when signaling other divers.
You also get a reliable sheath with this brand. The sheath includes adjustable quick-release straps.
Overall, Promate Scuba is a versatile and reliable dive knife. It is well-sized and lightweight to fit with many types of diving.
· Durable 304 stainless-steel blade
· Solid plastic grip
· Includes hammer butt
· Durable sheath
· Needs lots of maintenance
For a little more, you can go with the Promate Barracuda. It is not only reliable and versatile but is also the easiest dive knife to maintain.
Titanium is a preferred material in dive knives. Promate Barracuda uses this material because it is rustproof. It requires very little maintenance. All you need to do is air-dry the knife, and sharpen it from time to time.
It can be a bit hard to sharpen because well, it’s titanium
Like its Scuba counterpart, the Barracuda has a fixed blade with a serrated and a straight edge. There’s also the line-cutting notch and a sharp tip to complete the picture of a versatile dive knife. Apart from the sharp drop-tip knife that we have reviewed here, there’s also a blunt tip option.
A blunt tip can act as a screwdriver.
With Promate Barracuda, you can go from cutting small ropes to sawing through stuff and defending yourself.
Handling and Carriage
Gripping this knife is pretty safe. It has a durable rubber handle that is textured. It is ergonomic and the finger ridges help you to maintain a firm grip. The knife comes with a titanium butt which speaks of the knife’s durability. Better still, it will be a tank banger when the conditions call for it.
The knife’s sheath is uniquely made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic. It has a double security lock. You can unsheathe the knife using one hand by pressing on the pushbuttons.
To secure the knife to your leg, Promate Barracuda includes two straps. The straps have a rubber construction to keep them from rusting.
· Sharp titanium edge
· Corrosion and rust-resistant blade
· Durable sheath and straps
· Easy to disassemble for cleaning
· Titanium edge is hard to sharpen
With a 3.5-inch blade, SCUBAPRO Mako is perhaps the easiest knife to handle underwater. It is moderately priced but has just about everything you need in a dive knife.
This knife is lightweight yet strong. It has a 304-grade stainless-steel blade. It means you will have an easy time using it since it can keep a sharp edge for a long time. On the other hand, you will need to do more than air-dry the knife after a dive. You have to rinse it with fresh water and lubricate it before storage as part of its maintenance routine.
But other than that, you get a reliable knife that will last ages in good condition.
The multifunction blade has a serrated and straight edge. You can make clean cuts using the conventional straight edge. Or saw through rope with the serrated edge. A line-cutting notch and a bottle opener are also part of this knife.
SCUBAPRO Mako is one of the strongest dive knives around, thanks to the tanto tip.
You are likely to encounter garbage and plastics in the ocean. The tip can puncture through very hard materials. It will be of great use when freeing trapped aquatic life.
Handle and Carriage
The SCUBAPRO Mako stainless-steel knife has a rubberized handle. It has a large grip area to secure the knife firmly in your hand. You also get thumb guards that also help to keep the knife in your hand.
A locking sheath is included with this knife. The sheath locks securely and opens using a one-hand quick-release mechanism. You will never hassle to get it out or risk dropping it in the process.
· Blade resists surface oxidation
· One-hand release sheath
· Blade keeps a sharp edge for long
· Rubberized handle with a thumb lock
· Leg straps could be longer
When preparing for your next diving adventure, be sure to grab one of these best dive knives. We have picked only reliable models from reputable brands. The most durable is the Promate Barracuda which is a high-end option. This is because it has a titanium blade and butt.
Even if you don’t plan on using your dive knife, it certainly won’t hurt to have one in your dive arsenal.

Cargo boxes are super-handy if you are traveling with family on a domestic trip. We review the best boxes on the market. The post 10 Best Cargo Boxes for Car Travel 2020 appeared first on TravelBusy.
Covid19 Update: While many garden furniture products were sold out during lockdown, we have seen a large number of sales of cargo boxes over the last few weeks. With international travel restricted, people are opting to holiday domestically. Don’t leave buying any ‘staycation’ gear to the last minute.
Editors Top 3 Cargo Box Picks
The last few years have witnessed a great improvement in the overall quality of cargo boxes for cars from what we were used to. Central to that is the advanced technology of the day which has made it possible to develop spacier, yet more compact cargo carriers that are stronger and more rigid at the same time – without compromising on the aerodynamics. If anything, it has been greatly enhanced.
These are all qualities you could wish for in a cargo carrier. In this review, we take a look at some of the best cargo boxes for cars making headlines in 2018. Before you proceed though, this might be a better place to start.
When it comes to hard-shell cargo boxes, the first names that spring to mind are Thule and Yakima. They are the mobile equivalent of Apple and Samsung; companies that churn out some of the most creative high-end quality smartphones that split opinion like Ernest Rutherford did the atom in 1917.
Whichever the one, you can always be assured absolute quality, bar a few hitches that are the result of the quest for perfection.
And so it is with the Thule Force Cargo Box.
The Swedish-based outdoor gear company really pulled off the design on this cargo box. Car racks don’t come any sleeker than this, and this unique shape, coupled with a diamond-textured finish on the lid, means it can cut through air with minimal effort.
Cargo boxes have gotten a lot of stick with regard to noise on the drive, but owners of the Thule Force cargo Box have noted how quiet it is. This is no doubt a big plus, especially where long-distance trips are concerned.
You would think installing this cargo box takes much. But as long as you have a roof rack system in place, all you need is the accessories that come with the unit. The Thule Force series is available in a range of sizes to choose from: Medium (13 cubic feet), Large (16 cubic feet), Extra Large (17 cubic feet), as well as Extra Extra Large (21 cubic feet) and Alpine.
How to Install a Thule Roof Cargo Box
Medium-sized sedans, minivans and SUVs are best served by L and XL, depending on size, and as you go down this vehicle size range, M should do. The larger XXL sizes are best suited for large sedans and SUVs.
There have been cases of reported lid openings, but in a move akin to those high-end smartphone manufacturers with a loyal legion of followers, Thule has since moved swiftly to address the issue.
If you are in the market for one of the best car racks all-round, this solid, sleek and attractive car rack is an item you need to pay attention to. And if you need a fitting rack system to accompany it, try the Thule AeroBlade Edge Flush Mount Rack. This is not only one of the best roof racks on the market, but one that also comes with a lifetime warranty.
The Thule AeroBlade Edge Raised Rail Roof Rack System Bar is another good option, although this is designed for vehicles with raised side rails.
Here are a few more Cargo boxes from Thule worth considering:

This box cargo box comes in three different sizes XT, XL and XXL.
Thule Pulse Cargo Box
Yakima is the other top brand, alongside Thule, when it comes to traveling and camping gear, as well as related exterior accessories. It is a brand you are likely to come across on many roads and the reason behind this is simple: their offerings may be a little costly, but they sure have made a name for themselves through quality products, and roof rack systems and cargo boxes are areas they shine at in particular.
Take the SkyBox 21 Carbonite Cargo Box, for example. It warrants an entry into our list of best car racks for several reasons.
One, you are not going to find many quality boxes that come with such a generously-spaced cargo room. The SkyBox 21 has an impressive 21 cubic feet (other sizes include 12, 16, 18 and Lo), making it one of the biggest cargo carriers in the Yakima stable. Let that not fool you into thinking it’s a heavy piece of block, though.
Despite the size, this shell – as with most Yakima products – comes in an aerodynamic shape that helps your vehicle cut through the wind with minimal ease while reducing drag.
Third, the box has a lock on either side that allows you to lock or open it from the right or left, and fourth, it has a mechanism that prevents your keys from getting locked inside. When you unlock it, you cannot remove the key until you shut the box completely and re-lock it.

Given the size of this thing, families would find it ideal for holding up belongings in a single place, as would multiple people taking a trip together. The large SkyBox 21 would also fit long snowboards and skis.
On the minus side, some customers have expressed concerns over its 75-pound weight. This makes work of mounting it as you need two pairs of hands to do so. Moreover, its small opening means it can be a hard ask trying to get large suitcases inside.
That aside, everyone who has purchased it concurs it is a quiet, roomy, well-made cargo box well worth the big bucks they shelled out for it.
This is a cargo carrier designed to last a lifetime.
As for the rack system, you can never go wrong with the Yakima RailGrab Kit (58” bars + 4 towers). Yakima will guide you on the best fit for your car size.
The road to finding a hard-shell cargo box that offers the best bang for buck may not be a cakewalk. And given this breed of car racks is one the most expensive on the market, you really don’t have the luxury of buying and dumping.
This is why we would recommend the SportsRack SR7018 Vista XL Cargo Box, the biggest bargain you will find on the market in terms of value versus price. Compared to Thule or Yakima, you cannot help but notice the significant cost saving. Without compromising on much.
With a capacity of 18 cubic feet, that is ample cargo room. This is the capacity offered by the Rightline, but in this case, you don’t need to load unnecessary stuff to make sure it is full every trip. It has a good aerodynamic, and although it cannot match the flashier boys, it boasts more room in terms of height, meaning you can store bigger items that you can’t otherwise stash in the Thule or Yakima.
It is made from ABS plastic which makes it pretty durable. This also means it can withstand UV rays for many years to come. It comes with a lock that allows you to seal it completely from any unwanted pair of hands.
Attaching the box to the car is easy, although you need a roof rack for that. If you do not have one, this will mean upping your budget a little. In case you need a complete package, we would recommend the Sportrack SR1002 roof rack system to go with it.
On the downside, the SportsRack SR7018 Vista XL Cargo Box can only be accessed from the rear, unlike other boxes that offer a right and left option. Some have also taken issue with the buzz it makes when driving.
With a strong, waterproof, ample and quality cargo box that will last years while holding 100 pounds of gear, however, it is no doubt a price worth paying for many, especially looking long-term.
Another soft-case roof top carrier that does not need a rack system to work. It has four straps which can firmly loop around the roof rails, and if your vehicle doesn’t come with rails, there is still enough to run through the doors and under the roof, maintaining a solid hold even at high speeds.
If you want, you can also purchase car clips to hook the straps on the frame of the window, although this will mean shelling out a couple of few more dollars.
As for the carrier itself, it is constructed from a combination of PVC mesh and Hydrotuff, making it highly durable, with seams welded to ensure they remain solidly waterproof as the bag itself.
The Rightline Gear 100S20 Sport 2 Car Top Carrier is identical to most other carrier bags in the market in the sense that it has a protective flap bordering the top part to keep rain drops from penetrating the zipper. But unlike most other carrier bags, the zippers for this carrier are inside the flap. This works to protect the wind from forcing water to break through when you are speeding on the highway.
And with Urethane-coated zippers that make it even harder for water to seep into your stuff, there really can be no doubt as to the meticulous attention to detail the North Carolina-based gear company paid this product.
To cap it off, Rightline Gear adds – as part of the package – a sack with drawstring closure for you to stow the carrier when you are not using it.
Speaking of using.
Something to remember about this Rightline product is it needs to be filled completely whenever you want to use it, otherwise you run the risk of damaging it. This can be a deal-breaker for some, especially those who are constantly on the move. The manufacturer also claims it is 100% waterproof, but we have yet to come across a soft-carrier bag that offers that much waterproof capability.
All in all though, it is far better than many in its category, especially considering the 100-dollar price tag attached that guarantees a 15 cubic-foot capacity.

If you are in the market for a hitch carrier rack, the Pro-Series 63604 Amigo cargo carrier should make for a wonderful prospect.
It is constructed from a heavyduty rainproof material, with sonically-sealed seams which makes it a great fit for cross-country expeditions. It comes fitted with easy-to-open zippers enclosed in a three-inch flap and secured with hook and look fasteners, and all these features combine to serve the purpose of ensuring the contents of your bag are completely dry throughout.
For a hitch-mounted cargo carrier bag, you just cannot underestimate the importance of good waterproof capabilities. Because look, in addition to protecting your valuables during a heavy downpour or in snowy weather, the fact that the carrier is situated at the back of the vehicle means driving through puddles is bound to splash not-so-clean water on the bag.
Measuring 59 x 18.5 x 24 inches in length, width and height respectively, it adds to a total capacity of 15 cubic feet. That is a great amount of cargo space we are talking about; space that can comfortably fit everything from spare clothes, to sleeping bag(s) and other gear you may wish to bring along.
The Pro-Series 63604 Amigo Hitch Cargo Carrier Bag comes with six straps and buckles that firmly secure the bag on the cargo carrier. These work just fine without the need to keep stopping and retightening, or worrying that you will leave your luggage in the middle of nowhere.
An obvious downside with this hitch carrier bag is the lack of handles which makes carrying cumbersome, especially if you are alone. For less than $70, though, the cargo bag is great value for dough.
Its price skyrockets to a tad over 200 dollars if you purchase it as part of a package inclusive of a cargo basket and hitch tightener. Not the cheapest of the lot, true, but the upside is the durability it guarantees, and this is largely thanks to its overall premium quality.
We highly recommend.
Rola is an Australian brand keen on putting out gear that cannot only withstand the harshest of elements, but also achieve that feat in a stylish fashion. The Rola 59119 Rainproof Cargo Carrier Bag has a little of both worlds.
Everyone knows the weather doesn’t come any harsher than in the land down under, and with this carrier bag being one of the company’s flagship hitch rack carriers, it goes without saying that it is built for the job. It has a rugged exterior and rubberised interior which are further fortified by sealed seams and rain flaps around the zippers, thus ensuring it remains weatherproof and able to keep any form of wetness at bay.
The fact that Rola gives a 5-year limited warranty really says it all.
It boasts a capacity of an impressive 20 cubic feet achieved through a generous cut of 59 x 24 x 24 inches. That is enough to hold several large suitcases and duffel bags. And the second best thing about its size? It folds compactly for easy storage.
As for the straps, the bag has six of them which help secure it to the carrier. The straps do not have those quick release buckles, so you have to loop them on the carrier and through the buckles, strapping the bag firmly in place even during a bumpy ride.
This Rola cargo carrier is as stylish as they come and can be used all year round.
A definite winner.
First up on our list is the Weathertech 60001 Racksack Cargo Carrier, and its name should be a straight giveaway as to what type of car rack it is. You may recognise Weathertech as the cut floor mat specialists, but their forays into the roof cargo carrier segment have been impressive. At least if this offering is anything to go by.
With a box measuring 39 x 32 x 18 inches (length/width/height) the Racksack boasts an impressive load capacity of thirteen cubic feet. It is made of repellant polyester, which means it is water resistant (as opposed to waterproof), down to the double-stitched seams. There is a hack to prevent your things from getting wet, however – simply wrap the things you do not want to get wet in plastic bags, and bingo!
It comes with swivel straps that are easily mountable to the side rails and crossbars, with ‘Roll and Wrap’ Velcro tabs that inhibit strap flapping. This Weathertech weighs an impressive 7.7 pounds (approx. 3.5kg), and it comes complete with a handy stow-away bag.
Nylon bags may be rugged, but they have their limits, so if you are frequently hitting the trail, this sack will only last so long. But if you get out only a couple of times a year, it should serve you just fine.
As with every other cargo box, you should check your vehicle’s measurement to ensure it will fit prior to making a purchase. Double so if your own a compact car.
Another soft-case carrier bag that may appeal to many people for two reasons in particular.
One is that they come with an impressive price tag of under 60 dollars (we found ours for that price). This, however, should not be misinterpreted to mean it’s of flimsy quality. Far from it. In addition to being waterproof, the Keeper 07203-1 Waterproof Roof Top Cargo Bag can be relied upon to protect your stuff from rain, the sun and wind, as well as grit on the road.
Second, in terms of available space, few carriers can hold a candle against this Keeper. Stretching 44 inches in length, 34 inches wide and 17 inches high, the bag has a storage capacity of 15 cubic feet. That is some enviable amount of extra space to have, especially considering its soft sides allow for squeezing in loads that are oddly shaped.
Comes as no surprise then to know this waterproof cargo bag remains a bestseller among families and just about anyone looking for a simple solution that guarantees swaths of space.
As with all soft-case carrier bags, this cargo bag is best attached on side rails, and if your car lacks this provision, then a roof rack system needs to be installed. It comes with four straps attached, one for each corner which allows you to revel in the knowledge that your luggage is securely attached, no matter where you mount it.
The Keeper is also available in a package deal that includes a protective mat for your roof and an extra strap, which you can add across the middle, for instance. This is only to give you peace of mind in our opinion, as the four are just sufficient.
Its soft material means it folds up easily, and you will find that it is extremely compact.
If what you are after is a simple cargo bag that just gets the job done, few can beat this Keeper to that gong.
One of its few downsides is that it is susceptible to wear if used vigorously.
Next up on our list of best car racks is an item that doesn’t really need a cargo rack. That’s right, unlike its two aforementioned close cousins that need side rails or rack system for attaching, the RoofBag Explorer Waterproof Soft Car Top Carrier is specially designed to absolve you of the need for any extra hardware, pre-installed or otherwise (although it also works fine with them) for just…a little more.
Still, it is on the lower end of the price spectrum as you can secure one for less than 100 dollars.
For that, what you get in exchange is a generous 48 x 38 x 18-inch carrier with two capacity sizes: the 11 cubic-foot carrier which should be a good fit for most vehicles (car, van, SUV etc.), and the 15 cubic-foot model best suited for larger vehicles.
This carrier is made from a high quality environmental-friendly polyester canvas material, a sturdy fabric that means you can squeeze a couple of years of service out of it before hitting the market again. If you are the once or twice a year traveller, then expect the RoofBag Explorer Waterproof Soft Car Top Carrier to serve you for years to come.
It is 99% waterproof, according to RoofBag, which is more than sufficient for any practical uses. It is thick and has a waterproof vinyl coating both inside and outside which means it should not have a problem keeping everything inside dry, even in snow and rainstorms.
The big question is whether the model which doesn’t attach to the side rails can securely stay strapped while speed-driving on the highway. But the California-based gear company had that clearly thought out as they have fitted the carrier with special clips to attach to your car which can withstand 3,000 pounds of force.
The pass-through straps, which can be adjusted through any of the pair of side-release buckles, allow the car doors to close without any interference. However, if yours is a minivan, or any other car with sliding doors for that matter, you will need to manually close the doors as the straps can fool the sensors into thinking there is an obstacle in the way.
The Waterproof Soft Car Top Carrier comes with a protective mat to prevent the bag from scratching your paintwork.

Covid-19 update August 2020: The Hamptons is slowly getting back to normal. You will find many places now open, with social distancing measures place. We have been though opentable and other booking sites and found 80% of places open.
The Hamptons (NY) is a wealthy area New York, east of New York City. The area is where wealthy New Yorkers have their second homes to escape the city. The Hamptons is packed with top end end resturants, shops and hotels and well worth a visit.
According to Google the drive is around 2hrs.
As you can see from the above map, The Hamptons has a north and south fork, with most of the action being on the south fork. The north forks main areas are Mattituck, Greenport and Orient.
The south folk consists of the following hamplets:
East Hampton (confusingly not east!)
Sar Harbour (northern part of south fork)
There is also an island off the coast called Gardiners Island sitting in Gardiners bay. Gardiner Island is private and has been owned by the Gardiner family since 163 and is one of the largest private islands in the USA with an amazing history.
Shelter Island sits in between the 2 forks and can be visited using the South Ferry.
In 2018, the most expensive zip code in terms of real estate was Sagaponack. Sagaponack sits below Bridgehampton right on the coast, the average price of a home here is $8.5 Million. Note this is just the average! Fashion designer, Eli Tahari sold her beach front home for $45 Million recently.
Obviously the summer months are a great time to visit the Hamptons, but winter visits are becoming more popular. The region used to be dead in winter with the majority of places closing during the out of season months. Now many B&Bs and restaurants are staying open due to the steady rise in winter visitors. Roads and beaches are much quieter and you can pick up some great vacation rental deals over the Christmas period.
It is of course important that you know where all the best places to stay are when you are visiting in the Hamptons. There are some places that will be better-suited to certain types of people over others, which is why you will need to know what your options are like.
The Maidstone Arms is a beautiful Greek Revival inn that overlooks the town pond and has been widely regarded as one of the best accommodations in East Hampton for decades now. There is a great Swedish design to the building, and most of its 16 rooms and three cottages were inspired by famous Scandinavians, including Hans Christian Andersen as well as Arne Jacobsen. When you go just down the street you will find Baker House 1650, which has arts and crafts style rooms as well as two expansive outdoor pools to relax in.
One beautifully updated classic is the Inn and Quogue, which has some truly breathtaking but homey rooms that are perfectly suitable for a beach-type feel. The American Hotel, which is a red brick Victorian building, is located in the center of Sag Harbor and stands in stark contrast to many of the other buildings in the area. This place hasn’t changed a whole lot since 1846, but it definitely has a lot of charm and will make you feel like you are right at home.
There are a startling lack of nice hotels on the water in the Hamptons, but you will find that the White Sands Resort Hotel will provide you with some beautiful and clean accommodations for the duration of your stay. The Montauk’s hillside Panoramic View Resort & Residences is another great choice if you want a breathtaking ocean view.
The Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina is located on a small isle and is essentially a scaled-down replica of the town’s most famous lighthouse. With three pools, a spa, four tennis courts, and a marina, this hotel will most likely have just about everything you need.

Frequent flying comes with luggage. Choosing the best lightweight suitcase will ensure that you comply with strict airline rules about weight and size. The post 8 Best Lightweight Suitcases for International Travel appeared first on TravelBusy.
International travel is slowly getting back to normal, it’s time to start shopping for some new luxury travel gear.
Frequent flying comes with luggage. Choosing the best lightweight suitcase will ensure that you comply with strict airline rules about weight and size. Before you start going through all the colors and styles, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the provisions of luggage regarding the airlines you plan to use.
US carriers including Delta, United Airlines, and American Airlines all stipulate suitcase sizes for international travel for carry-on as 18-22 inches high, 9 inches deep, and 14 inches wide. For checked luggage, different airlines have their recommendations, but they range from 24 to 30 inches high. This comes with a weight limit too.
• Suitcase Size
It’s an obvious consideration because you will want luggage that can squeeze in all your essential items while still complying with size restrictions. Consider how long your travel will be so that you don’t leave anything out. It’s always important to be realistic and not stuff the things you hope to use but in reality are just by the way items that take up valuable space.
• Soft vs. Hard Lightweight Suitcases
Soft bags are flexible and can easily fit in an overhead compartment. Their flexibility also means you can fit an extra outfit. But they can rip easily if you don’t pick a high-quality suitcase made of dense materials. Hard suitcases, on the other hand, are ideal for storing fragile items. They are lightweight, durable, and less likely to be damaged in transit. Since they have hard sides, you will mostly carry the necessary items because it’s hard to go over the limit. With hard carry-on suitcases, you have to get the right size because you will not be able to squeeze it into an overhead compartment if it is not the right fit.
• Wheels on Your Lightweight Case
You can choose to go with a suitcase with two or four wheels and some have double wheel sets so are called 8-wheel. Four-wheeled luggage is easy to move since the spinner wheels move in all directions. For navigating through airports, 360-degree wheels are more comfortable to pull through since you can turn a corner without having to stop. But they can be hard to pull on cobblestone roads mostly found in Europe. That is why you may need to consider two-wheeled suitcases if your destination is Europe. Two wheels move in two directions only which makes them stable on rough surfaces.
• Specialised Sports Luggage Bags
If you are planning a trip where sports luggage is required, it’s a good idea to look at the specific bags and travel requirements involved for your sport. Snowboarding travel bags for example come under specific travel luggage and are often checked into airlines as snow sports equipment. Whereas scuba dive bags for dive gear look just like normal suitcases or duffle bags, you just might need to declare what it is you are carrying. We recommend you always check airline luggage guidelines before checking in, just in case you get caught out and need to pay something extra at the airport.
The cost of being overweight (not literally!)
If your luggage is overweight or over sized you can expect to be hit with a hefty fine of up to $550 on some flights, basically the cost of the flight again! Here’s some charges from the American airlines page.
We class ultra lightweight carry-on cases as weighing under 5lbs, but these may not be the best choice for you. The ultra-light suitcases tend to only have 2 wheels, which can get a bit annoying when queuing to board the plane. In our tests, we preferred the carry-on cases weighing under 7lb with hard shells and at least 4 wheels.
At 19 inches, Samsonite Omni PC Hardside Spinner is an excellent option in carry-ons. It comes in a lightweight and robust design for improved durability, weighing in at 6.8lbs. You can count on it, not only because it meets international luggage size but because it is easy to store lots of stuff. It has a full-zip interior with a divider and cross-straps to help squeeze in every item for your trip. Remember not to overstuff it because airlines will charge you extra fees or even worse still be grounded for not abiding by airlines’ carry-on rules.
This luggage uses a micro-diamond texture such that no matter how many trips you take; your suitcase will look as good as new every time.
Samsonite Omni PC Hardside Spinner also explores 360-degree wheels. They make it super easy to move with your luggage as they manage the weight of the luggage for you. And your luggage will always be protected since it also comes with a TSA-compatible combination lock.

Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers
Maxlite 4 is prone to tipping. We find this is a common issue with two-wheeled models since they cannot stand on their own. For a stable model, you can opt for the Maxlite 3 spinner that is lighter but smaller than the Maxlite 4.

On the exterior of the suitcase, you will find a U-shaped zipper pocket. It also increases the storage capacity of the luggage. The zipper is credited to take pressure even when you squeeze in an extra pair of shoes.
Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers
This suitcase will not do well on rugged surfaces. The wheels will most likely break off if you roll it on a rough path.
The Eagle Creek No Matter What 20-inch duffel is all about convenience. It will easily fit on most airline overhead compartments since it is soft sided. When it comes to organizing stuff, you have a stash bag on the top and a smaller compartment with No.10 lockable zippers. The inside of the duffel includes a mash panel organizer and the main compartment where most of your items will go.
Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers
The retractable bag is not padded. It may bring some sought of discomfort if you pull it for extended periods.
If you are looking for lightweight checked luggage with spinner wheels, you will want to consider the Samsonite Mightlite 2. It is a soft side spinner weighing in at only 8 pounds. It’s not that any compromises have been made with the construction since it is made of a heavy-duty nylon fabric. It includes a samguard water-resistant coating to make it weather resistant and improve its durability.
The multi-direction spinner wheels are important in making it easy to maneuver through crowded spaces. This is because they are easy to turn and will also be easy on your joints and wrists. The alloy pull handle is beveled for comfortable handling. It eliminates any extra stress when you are pulling a full suitcase over a long distance.
Apart from the main compartment, this luggage also comes with three zippered pockets on the outside. You will have enough room to bring every essential item that you want for your trip.
Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers
There are complaints about a broken zipper if you overstuff the suitcase. It is vital to understand your limits instead of risking a snapped zipper when you are at the airport.
TravelPro is always ahead of the game when it comes to international travel. It is evident in their Platinum Elite that this brand brings perfection in your travel. This particular checked luggage has a height of 25 inches. It is a medium-sized model that is ideal for medium and long trips.
With its tapered design, you can expand it to get two more inches when you have more than a few travel necessities to bring along. We like that its weight is easy to manage thanks to the four Magnatrac spinner wheels. If you feel the weight is still too much, you can go for the Maxlite 5 that is 2 pounds lighter than this Platinum Elite model.
With the Platinum Elite, you get a 4-stop PowerScope handle with a contoured grip. It comes with a foldout suiter that keeps clothes wrinkle-free. The suiter will fit in two suits, and it is not removable. You also have accessory pockets that will give you more organized space.

Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers

This luggage is as good on the outside as it is on the inside. It has a 150-Denier polyester interior with dividers. For smaller items, you have three zippered compartments that are as important as the main pocket.
The telescoping handle locks into place such that together with the four spinner wheels, it is quite easy to get it rolling even when you are carrying the maximum weight limit. The short handle is securely mounted on the side to facilitate safe and comfortable lifting of your luggage.
If you are traveling large, the three suitcases can be used as they all meet airline size restrictions. But you won’t be getting a strap that can hook the three suitcases together.
Drawbacks but not Deal Breakers
The 28-inch suitcase if expanded may exceed size limitations. We don’t see why AmazonBasics included this option if it is going to be a challenge to use it.
If you are looking for more 3-piece sets, IT luggage touts itself as producing ‘The World’s lightest luggage sets’. Their best seller is the 8 wheel 3-piece set .
