ABS-CBN’s Star Music and Breakthrough and Milestones Production International (BMPI)’s Wish FM 107.5 will again join forces in the first major concert of Wish FM’s Wishful Five after the two music industry giants collaborated in the radio station’s Wishcovery search grand finals event a few months back.
The said concert, entitled Wishful Journey, features rising young stars Princess Sevillena, Kimberly Baluzo, Louie Anne Culala, Carmela Ariola and Ace Bartolome and is set on Tuesday, June 19, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. The five came out on top in the first Wishcovery nationwide talent search by Wish FM 107.5, with Sevillena winning the grand prize.
The Wishful Journey concert will also serve as a venue for launching their first collaborative album of the same name with Star Music, with the album featuring 18 tracks composed of originals and cover songs. The album is expected to hit platinum with the way the album’s carrier collab song “Patuloy ang Pangarap” has been making the rounds online and in radio playlists a few days after its release on digital platforms. Wishcovery’s first grand champion Princess Sevillena’s lyric videos of the songs “Walang Kasing Ikaw”, “Pangarap Kong Butuin” and “Sana’y Maghintay Ang Walang Hanggan” all have been performing strongly as well on Star Music’s Youtube channel.

The Wishful 5 could not be more thankful of the opportunity being given to them during the concert’s press conference yesterday at the 9501 Restaurant in Quezon City. Wishcovery’s first grand champion Princess Sevillena of Makati City, for one, exclaimed, “Never did I imagine that all these would happen to me in just a year – winning a huge contest, having my first album and launching it at the Big Dome.” She added, “The pressure is naturally there, but I believe that people will enjoy what we’ve prepared. We just need to focus on one goal – to make them happy.”
Big names in the local music scene such as OPM hitmaker Yeng Constantino, Asia’s Phoenix Morisette, R&B stars Daryl Ong and Kris Lawrence and “Pilipinas Got Talent” season 6 grand champion Kristel De Catalina will also perform in the event as special guests.
ABS CBN and Wish FM have been recently working together in major partnerships – the Morisette is Made concert and the Wishcovery Grand Finals are just two of the major projects the two entertainment giants have worked on together this year.
Concert tickets are now available through Ticketnet.com.ph. Meanwhile, the Wishful 5 debut album will be available on Monday, June 18, at the ABS-CBN Store.

“Let’s celebrate 2gether!”
Fast-rising coffee shop Daniel’s Coffee is celebrating its second year by bringing together families, friends and colleagues from June 11 to 15 at its pioneer branch at EDSA, Quezon City.
Fun-filled activities such as live performances from acts such as rock ensemble Plethora band, the groovy trio of the Voysing and Wish 107.5 Wishful 5 Carmi Ariola, as well as open mic events, await avid coffee lovers for the week-long celebration.
On its first day, coffee lovers from Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas to as far as the Ilocos and Cagayan provinces flocked to Daniel’s Coffee main branch in Quezon City to celebrate its second year as a cafe and television studio rolled into one. Fans from other nearby places are expected to follow suit in the succeeding days.
A Unique Coffee Shop and TV Studio In One Concept
Daniel’s Coffee opened in June 13, 2016 as a realization of a dream and a unique concept by prominent broadcaster and public personality Daniel Razon. In an interview with Trending News Philippines two years ago, he mentioned that, “What I really wanted is parang nagkape lang kami nung guest ko sa isang coffee shop tapos nagkwentuhan kami tapos nagusap kami asking straight questions. Tapos mayroon naman na mga nage- eavesdrop na mga nandun din.” (What I really wanted is, like, me and my guest drinking in a coffee shop and having a conversation by asking direct questions. Then there would also be people eavesdropping on us there.)
“Most of the time, pag tayo nasa coffee shop or any place tapos may nadinig ka sa tabi mo na may nag-uusap ng something interesting, hindi naman dahil sa nanyinyismis ka or what but specially kung by accident napakinggan mo yung pinaguusapan nila, you become interested,” the cafe owner, also known by the monicker Mr. Public Servant, added. “So, ang concept ko talaga, parang ganoon gawin. But, mahirap naman kung ilalabas ko pa. So, sabi ko, why not come up with a coffee shop set?” (Most of the time, in a coffee shop or anywhere else, when we hear other people talking about something interesting, not for the sake of eavesdropping or what but especially if you overheard the conversation by accident, you become interested. So my concept is like that but it will be difficult if we bring it on a different venue. So I said, why not come up with a coffee shop set?)
With this concept, the cafe doubles as the studio for the no-holds-barred morning show Get It Straight with Daniel Razon on UNTV News and Rescue Channel, where guests are treated to intense question and answer segments featuring major political figures. Controversial personalities, such as Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo, Bureau of Corrections Chief Ronald Dela Rosa, and PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, are just some of those who have guested in the said television show hosted by the cafe owner, Daniel Razon, himself.
Rave Reviews Overflow as #DanielsCoffeeTurns2
As expected, Daniel’s Coffee continues to mesmerize coffee lovers with its addictive coffee blends and succulent cakes and pastries, on top of its unique TV studio concept, two years in a row now.
Demie Lumanlan of Marikina City, one of the guests who performed during the open mic sessions, put the obvious into words. “Maganda ang ambiance sa loob ng Daniel’s. Astig yung logo nila, ang ganda ng packaging at presentations ng mga products. Quality yung coffee nila. Honestly, mas masarap pa siya kaysa sa ibang leading coffee shops.” (The ambiance was nice inside Daniel’s cafe. The logo was cool, the packaging and presentation of the products were amazing. Their coffee is of good quality. To be honest, it tastes better than that of other leading coffee shops.”)
(I love drinking coffee and they got my kind of coffee. Their cakes and pastry products are also delicious. I always come here whenever i feel like I want to relax, and there are times that they have entertaining live performances).
Another perfomer, Nicole Cabigting of Pampanga, cherishes her being part of those entertaining the customers during Daniel’s Coffee anniversary week. She said, “Being part of the 2nd anniversary celebration of Daniel’s Coffee was really overwhelming, at kahit sa maliit na paraan naging bahagi kami sa pagbigay aliw sa mga audience”. She added, “It was really fun to be with them and I’m really happy to see them in full smiles while we’re singing for them. Salamat po sa Dios.” (Being part of the 2nd anniversary celebration of Daniel’s Coffee was really overwhelming, even in our own little way we were able to entertain the audience. It was really fun to be with them and I’m really happy to see them in full smiles while we’re singing for them. Thanks be to God).
Another satisfied coffee fanatic was Marlon Desquitado, a customer from Manila. He appreciated the cafe’s anniversary celebration. “Masaya at nag-enjoy po ako kasi may mga live performers.” (It’s fun and I really enjoyed the event because of the live performers.)
He also appreciated not only the products but the quality service of its crew. “Patok ang kape at cake sa Daniel’s kasi masarap, maayos ang accommodation ng mga crew at friendly.” (Daniel’s coffee and cakes are a hit because they are delicious and because the service crew are accommodating and friendly.)
He did also wish for the cafe’s future successes and expansion. “Sana lalong magtagumpay ang Daniel’s Coffee. Magkaroon din sana ng mga branch sa mga malls tsaka sa ibang mga lugar.” (I hope that Daniel’s Coffee will continue to be successful. I also wish that there will be other branches in other places, especially in malls.)
New Daniel’s Promos, Products and Branches Await Coffee Lovers
As if the celebration itself isn’t enough, Daniel’s Coffee unveiled surprises for its loyal customers at the onset of the celebration. Two new beverage flavors were launched during the anniversary week. The Banana and Taro Danpuccino varieties are now available and are on a promotional buy-one-take-one promo between 2PM and 4PM during the week-long celebration (for Grande size only).
Meanwhile, ten lucky fans will get a chance to win 2,000 worth of Daniel’s Coffee beverages each through the cafe’s Sip, Snap and Win promo by simply clicking the LIKE button on Daniel’s Coffee FB page, snapping a selfie or groupfie with a beverage of choice inside the cafe premises and with the customized Daniel’s Like sign and posting it publicly on Facebook with a unique caption and the official anniversary hashtag #DanielsCoffeeTurns2.
Finally, after a successful launch of its first provincial branch in Pampanga last year, two other branches are reportedly set to be inaugurated soon, like what Kuya Daniel revealed to TNP July of 2016. “We are happy to announce as well na God-willing mayroon na kaming uh tinitingnan ngayon na ibang branch. So, iba-branch out na namin for full operation,” he said during the aforementioned interview. (We are happy to announce as well that we will be branching out for full operations, God willing).
Del Rosario, also known as "Doktor Musiko" in the OPM scene, ended his statement with a strong take on ASOP TV. "If you think of praise music in the Philippines, imposibleng hindi mo iisipin ang ASOP."
Tonight will again be a night to remember – a night dedicated to singing for the glory of God.
Fresh from bagging the Best Talent Search program award in last night’s 31st PMPC Star Awards for Television at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater – Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, the A Song of Praise Music Festival will stage its Year 6 Finals tonight at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Also known as ASOP and seen weekly on UNTV News and Rescue channel every Sunday night, the praise songwriting tilt will feature its 12 monthly finalists who are all vying for the P1-million grand prize.
This year’s finalists are:
Last year, Noemi Ocio’s “Kumapit Ka Lang” made its way to the top of ASOP Year 5. The song later on became viral on social media and was also used on a tribute video for Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. Another ASOP song, season 3 grand winner “May Awa Ang Dios” by Louise Lyle Robles, was used in a campaign video of President Duterte during the campaign leading to the 2016 presidential elections.
The sixth edition of ASOP Music Festival will be remembered for featuring an eclectic mix of genre in music, from R&B, jazz, glam rock, pop rock to ballad. The event will feature songs that reflect the songwriters’ fight with depression, hopelessness, battle with cancer, and death in the family. Another writer competing this year shared through his song how his life becomes complete after finding God.
ASOP On A League Of Its Own
In a press conference last Tuesday at the OMBU Kusina in Quezon City, ASOP resident judge Mon Del Rosario noted how great of an impact the A Song For Praise Music Festival had in the Philippine music scene.
The great Filipino composer highlighted how ASOP gave a fresh breath of air to the Philippine music industry amidst the issues like piracy, and dropping album sales. “Having worked with ASOP for the past six years and having worked with a lot of talented composers and a lot of very talented interpreters, nabubuhayan ako ng loob. In fact, I feel very encouraged, lumalakas ang loob ko every year.” The veteran musical director added,”With the current political climate, im sure malaki magiging suporta.”
He also made it clear how ASOP carved out a niche of its own that made it resonate well with Filipinos. “In the industry, ang ASOP is perhaps the only project that deals with praise music. Although maraming albums yan, maraming artists ang praise music in so many years, pero ang focus talaga I think more than any other project in the praise genre, ASOP ang nagstastandout.”
Del Rosario, also known as “Doktor Musiko” in the OPM scene, ended his statement with a strong take on ASOP TV. “If you think of praise music in the Philippines, imposibleng hindi mo iisipin ang ASOP.”
ASOP Gives The People More Power To Choose
ASOP also gave the public more power in choosing its preferred entry through revisions on its People’s Choice Awards mechanics.
The online voting and power viewing to select the People’s Choice Awardee kicked off on November 3. On the new scheme, fans and supporters rooting for their grand finalists to clinch the People’s Choice Award can cast one (1) vote a day in the official website of ASOP Music Festival, using their Facebook and Twitter accounts or through power viewing the official videos.
The winner of the popularity award will be selected based on total accumulated points from online voting (50%) and power viewing (50%) of the entries’ official music videos.
One account, one (1) vote per day will be counted. Voting period will last until today, November 13, at exactly 12 noon.

Also known as a charitable basketball tourney, a P 1-million cash prize awaits the chosen beneficiary of the champion team while 500 thousand pesos will be given to the partner charity organization of the runners up. These charitable institutions turn out to be Cavaliers’ AFP Education Benefits Systems Office and the Responders’ Sangguniang Masang Pilipino International Foundation (SMPIFI) Inc.
Both teams are known for fast-paced, high-octane offenses and lockdown defenses that will surely be a big blast for the UNTV Cup basketball league fans.

A crucial do-or-die Game 3 of the UNTV Cup Season 5 Finals is on tonight as an intense match is expected between the Malacañang Kamao and the Philippine National Police Responders at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum later at 7 PM.
A momentum-shifting victory, 67-61, by the Responders in the second game of the finals of the said inter-agency charitable basketball tournament sponsored by TV network UNTV News and Rescue saved their aspirations for an elusive first championship and the P 4-million cash prize for the champion and its chosen beneficiaries.
Former UE Warriors sniper Ollan Omiping carried the load for the PNP five, scoring 21 points for the PNP side that led by as much as 10 points, 38-28 by halftime.
However, the Palace squad refused to go down without a fight as they brought the game to a 54-all deadlock with 7:49 remaining in the final quarter. The PNP refused to crumble amidst the Kamao comeback, scoring on key possessions while defending the Malacañang attack well.
The P4-million tax-free cash prize sponsored by UNTV News and Rescue and their primary sponsor, Members Church of God International, is up for grabs for the victor of tonight’s game, as well as their partner charitable institution. The Malacañang Kamao selected two beneficiaries; the Millennium Sports Support System Association, Inc. and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center Cancer and Hematology Center. Meanwhile, the Responders will donate their winnings to the PNP-PCRG Drug Rehabilitation Program.

The Malacañang Kamao and the Philippine National Police Responders do battle once again as the UNTV Cup season 5 championship series shifts to the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday for its second game.
The Responders look to even the series at one apiece as the Palace five escaped with a nail-biter, 82-81, to claim the first game of the best-of-three series last Sunday at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Former UST Tigers guard Christian Luanzon powered the Kamao comeback from 8 points down in the first quarter of the first game with 29 points and 11 rebounds while amateur standout Eric Dela Cuesta fired 23 points with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Luanzon said in a post-game interview, “We’re gonna go back sa tape. Tignan naten saan pa kami mag-i-improve.”
He added of the PNP five, “This is a very tough team. Kapag binigyan pa namin sila ng pagkakataon sa next game para i-tie 1-1, it’s anybody’s ballgame Game 3, so we’re gonna make sure na we’re gonna do everything that we can para i-close out na yung game Tuesday next week.”
Meanwhile, Dela Cuesta recalled the slow start of the Kamao that almost cost them the game. “Kelangan start strong kami kasi nung first quarter kanina medyo nag-sluggish yung umpisa namin kaya tinambakan kami. So, luckily nakuha namin yung rhythm namin pagdating ng second quarter, pagdating ng third at fourth yun nakuha na namin kaya siguro kami nanalo sa game na ito.”
TV network UNTV News and Rescue, through the efforts of its CEO and veteran broadcaster Daniel Razon, will give away more than 10 million pesos to the winning teams and their chosen partner charitable institutions.
A deciding Game 3 will be on March 21, if necessary.
